Where exactly is the pub located, and what is the best way to find it?
The Kentish Rifleman is nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Dunks Green, situated between the villages of Plaxtol and Shipbourne in Kent (Postcode: TN11 9RU). If you are driving from Tonbridge or Sevenoaks, take the A227 and turn off toward Plaxtol/Dunks Green. Our historic 16th-century building sits prominently right on Roughway Lane.
What is the nearest railway station to The Kentish Rifleman?
The closest major railway hubs are Tonbridge Station and Hildenborough Station, both located roughly 5 miles (a 10-to-15-minute drive or taxi ride) away from the pub. Both stations offer direct, frequent connections to and from London Charing Cross and London Bridge, making us a straightforward countryside escape.
Do you have an on-site car park for guests?
Yes, we have some dedicated, free customer car parking located opposite and alongside the pub building. If our spaces are full during busy periods, there is also ample, safe additional parking permitted along the roadside on Roughway Lane.
What is the step-free access like at the pub for guests with limited mobility?
Entry into our historic front Rifle Bar involves one small step up from the pathway. Once inside, there is completely level access running through the bar into our rear Restaurant, Garden Room and outdoor terrace. Please note that due to the historic 16th-century nature of the building, there are a couple of small steps down to the indoor toilets, but direct, low-threshold alternative access to them can be found via our side door.

From Sevenoaks
Take the A25 through the village of Seal towards Ightham and Borough Green. On a left-hand bend in the road take a right turn onto Coach Road and carry on to the village of Ivy Hatch bearing right on Mote Road and then into High Cross Road signposted to Plaxtol. Turn right at the junction with the A227 towards Tonbridge but take the next left turn towards Plaxtol. Pass by Plaxtol Church and carry straight on along School Lane for half a mile turning left at the junction with Hamptons Road. At the next crossroads turn left into Dunk's Green Road and we are 400 yards on the right.
From Tonbridge
Take the A227 towards Ightham, Wrotham and Borough Green. At the top of Starvecrow Hill on a left-hand bend bear right towards Plaxtol along Puttenden Road. Carry on until you come to a cross-roads near Puttenden Manor and drive straight on into Dunk's Green Road and we are 400 yards on the right. Please park in the pub car park in Roughway Lane or the car park on the Green.
